New Ministry

2008-11_NL-Pic 001

We are getting settled in Darmstadt, after our move the middle of July! We came right as the last of the military families in the church left the Darmstadt area. (The Darmstadt military bases officially closed this summer.) We arrived with attendance being around 12 on Sunday Mornings. Yes, we already knew this would be the case when we arrived in Darmstadt. We were prepared to change the work back over to a german speaking work, but God had other plans for the church and us here! With the combination of creating a new website and inviting people, the church began to have new visitors almost every week. Our Sunday attendance is now in the upper 30!s to lower 40!s. We are a very International Church now, with Germans, Africans, Romanians, and many other countries! It is really exciting to see God at work here in Darmstadt, Germany!

New Schools
Each State has a 6 week summer break at different times between June and September. Hessen!s school break started 3 weeks before the school break in Sachsen, leaving the children only 3 weeks for their summer break, which was mainly taken up with trying to get moved and locating schools for them to attend! Stefan finished the regular High school here in Germany. He wants to attend the University here, which means he must first continue his studies at the “Gymnasium”, which is like a University Prep School. You can only study at a German University with this diploma. This will include him learning both Latin and Spanish this year, along with his other courses. Willi is also finishing up his last year at “Gymnasium”. Phillip and Heidi are both going to schools in Griesheim, close to home. Willi and Stefan are going to school in Darmstadt, which meant buying bus tickets for both of them, at $375 a piece for the year!

New Costs
These past months have been a roller coaster for the Dollar, the gas prices and all other prices, as we know many of you can relate to. We continue to pray for a stronger Dollar and increased support to continue the work God has called us to do here in Germany. We are faced with many new costs. We also have some extra one time costs that need to be covered ASAP. Thank you so much! God will bless your faithfulness in praying and giving towards this ministry. Look already at the great things he is doing here in Darmstadt because of your obedience to Him!

Serving Together,
William, Kathleen and Family
