Big Surprise!

We had our last Power Kids meeting on June 10th. On June 22nd, they gave us a surprise “Goodbye party”. Many of the parents and “our kids” were there. They surprised us with a poem and a huge Trophy that said “Thank you for your love, care and patience with us!” We continue to pray that the Lord will use what these kids have learned to lead them even closer to God!

Our Power Teens met for the last time on July 5th for an all-nighter. William and I made Pizzas for the 22 Teens. They also presented us with a picture collage, cards and and a photo album to remember them by.

Changing Homes!
Our neighbors and Teens were a great help as the day approached for our move on July 15th, Many helped with the packing, clean up and getting us loaded. One neighbor even prepared meals for us the last couple of days! The 15th was a very emotional day with many tearful goodbyes from our neighbors and friends. One neighbor exclaimed in tears “why do all the good neighbors move away and the bad ones stay?”

As reported in our last letter, William!s mom was doing so much better! While she was in the hospital, she caught a virus, which caused her immune system to decay rapidly. On July 2nd, she was readmitted to the hospital with very bad hemorrhaging. She rallied a bit over the holiday weekend, so they did not operate right away. By Monday, she was already too weak to be operated on. She was put on life support, so that the children and grandchildren could say good-bye. On July 8th, William was able to say goodbye over the phone and then she passed away shortly thereafter. Mom moved to her new home in heaven, She got the better deal on changing homes and we are happy that she is now pain free, but are going to miss her greatly!
The hardest part was not having a phone and very limited Internet access for almost 8 weeks after we moved and not being able to communicate with William’s Dad.

Serving Together,
William, Kathleen and Family
